Nehemiah is committed to using the funds generated from its charitable down payment assistance program, The Nehemiah Program®, to support its other charitable endeavors and affiliate organizations. In 1994, Nehemiah Corporation of America (“Nehemiah”) was founded by a young African-American preacher with a $5,000 loan from a Baptist church in Sacramento, California. Nehemiah, the biblical leader who re-built the walls of Jerusalem, is the example which forms the foundation of Nehemiah. Although Nehemiah has no direct denominational relationship, its mission is based upon Judeo-Christian principles. The services we provide, however, are available to all people, regardless of belief or affiliation. Just as the prophet was committed to rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, Nehemiah is committed to enriching communities across America through economic empowerment and the provision of affordable housing and responsible home ownership.
