Partnerships

U-CAN has established long-term partnerships with several California school districts as well as a consortium of community organizations. U-CAN has provided ongoing education support and outreach services to the following school districts:
U-CAN provides educational support and outreach service to the Grant Joint Union High School District in Sacramento, as well as the West Fresno Elementary School District in Fresno, California. During the 2006-2007 school year U-CAN served 801 Grant District students. Of the total students served 366 (46%) were African American, 146 (18%) were Hispanic, 94 (12%) were White, 99 (12%) were Asian and 96 (12%) were Pacific Islander. Of the total students served, 386 were seniors and 117 applied to an HBCU and 101 were accepted an 86% acceptance rate. In addition, U-CAN secured scholarships for 29 GrantDistrict students worth $766,000. U-CAN has a long-standing relationship with Nehemiah Corporation of America. Nehemiah Corporation continues to provide financial support and scholarship awards to the U-CAN program. U-CAN has a long-standing relationship with New Faze Development of Sacramento, California. New Faze Development continues to provide financial support to U-CAN U-CAN has a long-standing relationship with the United Black Student Unions of California. |
